Sudi, Governor Bii Shower Raila with Praises, Pray for His Victory in AUC Race: “Kiongozi Shupavu”
The race for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship is at its final stretch, with candidates making last-minute efforts to secure the prestigious continental seat. Among the frontrunners is Kenya’s Raila Odinga, who remains hopeful of clinching victory after traversing Africa to drum up support from heads of state.
Back home, leaders from the Rift Valley, a region traditionally allied with President William Ruto, have come out to endorse Raila’s bid. Their unexpected support has sparked discussions across the political spectrum.
Governor Bii: Raila is a Leader Who Can Transform Africa
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii led the charge, calling on Kenyans to back Raila’s bid and praying for his victory. He commended Raila’s political career and vision for Africa.

“Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, a seasoned and highly respected leader, is on the ballot this week to become the next chairperson of the African Union Commission. As the governor of Uasin Gishu, I join my people in sending him our heartfelt best wishes. We believe in his capacity to lead and bring positive transformation to the continent,” Bii declared.
He further praised Raila’s willingness to work with President Ruto in forming an inclusive government. According to Bii, Raila’s leadership qualities—unity, consensus-building, and statesmanship—make him the right candidate for the AUC position.
Oscar Sudi Declares Support for Raila
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi also expressed his backing for Raila, surprising many by taking to social media to publicly endorse him.
“Dear Raila, your transformative leadership has been instrumental not only in shaping Kenya’s political landscape but also in advocating for Africa’s collective progress. As you seek the AUC chairmanship, we stand firmly behind you and believe in your ability to champion a united and prosperous Africa,” Sudi posted.
His message resonated widely, as he emphasized Raila’s ability to bridge political divides and strengthen Pan-African cooperation. Sudi’s remarks signaled a shift in the Rift Valley political landscape, where Raila has previously faced opposition.
Africa Awaits the Big Decision
With just days to go, the race is tightening. Raila’s supporters, both at home and abroad, eagerly await the outcome. The elections, set for Saturday, February 15, will take place at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
As the continent prepares to elect a new AUC chairperson, Raila’s fate now lies in the hands of African leaders. Will he secure the top seat? The world watches and waits.
