Tragedy at Kabete High: Two Guards Killed in Night Raid Linked to Suspended Students
A chilling night raid at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School has left two security guards dead and a community in shock. The attack, which occurred on Friday, October 17, coincided with the end of KCSE exam rehearsals, raising fears of sabotage.
“One Guard Was Already Dead” — Principal Recounts Horror
According to the school’s principal, the administration was alerted by a guard from a neighboring school who heard loud commotion.

“When I arrived in the compound, one guard was already dead while the other was still breathing,” the principal recalled. “We tried to rush the surviving one to the hospital, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries.”
The brutal attack has sparked outrage, especially as the school suspects the perpetrators were suspended students familiar with the premises.
“They Knew Where to Hit” — Targeted Attack on School Facilities
“The timing wasn’t random. They struck just as students were preparing for national exams,” a senior teacher noted.
This has led investigators to believe the raid was planned with insider knowledge.
“We’re Reviewing Footage” — Police Launch Manhunt
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. CCTV footage briefly captured one face before the system was destroyed.

“We’re reviewing the footage. We hope to identify and arrest the culprits soon,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
The footage, though partially damaged, is expected to provide crucial leads.
“They Were Suspended” — School Links Attack to Former Students
School management strongly suspects the attackers were students previously suspended for indiscipline.
“They knew the layout. They knew where to go. That’s not a coincidence,” the principal emphasized.
The incident has raised serious concerns about student discipline and school security.
“We Need Justice” — Community Demands Accountability
“This is heartbreaking. Our children are no longer safe,” a parent lamented. “We need answers. We need protection,” another added.
The bodies of the slain guards were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary. Autopsies are expected to be conducted soon.
“We Must Act” — Authorities Urged to Tighten School Security
Education stakeholders are now urging the government to enhance security in schools, especially during exam seasons.

“This tragedy must not repeat. We must act now,” a local leader said.
