Tension Along Jogoo Road As Huge Crowd Linked To Maina Njenga Marches Towards Nairobi CBD
Eyewitnesses described a wave of people chanting “Ndovu! Ndovu!” as they surged from Makadara Law Courts shortly after Njenga’s court session. The crowd, which had earlier gathered for the hearing, began trailing the convoy suspected to be transporting Njenga.
Police On High Alert, But Situation Remains Calm
Despite the heavy presence and noise, police officers confirmed the group remained peaceful throughout.
“So far, no violence has been reported. But we’ve deployed anti-riot officers along Manyanja Road as a precaution,”
a senior police officer told this reporter.

Businesses Paralyzed As Owners Brace For The Worst
Business owners along Jogoo Road expressed anxiety, still haunted by the chaos and looting witnessed during the recent Saba Saba protests.
“Be on the lookout. We don’t want what happened on Saba Saba Day to repeat itself,”
warned Magunas Supermarket supervisor, Jogoo Road branch, while addressing his staff and local security.
Shops temporarily closed as traders took precautionary measures to safeguard their goods.
Heavy Traffic Snarls Transport
As the crowd moved past St. Stephen’s Church/Church Army towards City Stadium, traffic came to a complete standstill. Commuters were left stranded while motorists struggled to divert to alternative routes.
“A large crowd is currently marching along Jogoo Road. They seem organized, singing loudly and moving in one direction,”
a local resident shared online.
“They’re from Makadara Law Courts after attending Maina Njenga’s case. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area,”
the concerned citizen added.
Government Responds With Warning
In response to rising public anxiety, President William Ruto issued a stern warning to protestors.

“Anyone found breaking the law during any demonstration will face the full force of the law,”
he declared.
Jogoo Road remained under tight surveillance by evening, with authorities maintaining presence to prevent further escalation.
