Senator Boni Khalwale’s Wife Dies After Heart Attack
Khalwale announced the death of Sekeiyan in a statement, describing her sudden passing as a devastating loss to the family.
The senator said his wife collapsed unexpectedly before she died.
“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack.”
Khalwale did not provide further details about his wife’s health history or whether she had been receiving treatment for any medical condition before her death.

Sekeiyan was the mother of eight of Khalwale’s children. Her death has therefore left the family facing the loss of a mother at a time when the senator continues to serve as Kakamega’s representative in the Senate.
Leaders Mourn Khalwale’s Wife
Sifuna urged the family to remain strong as they come to terms with the sudden loss.
“Omwami Khalwale, pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace.”
National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson Samuel Atandi also mourned Sekeiyan and sent a message of comfort to the Kakamega senator.
“Very sorry, Senator. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time.”

Mother of Eight Children
Sekeiyan was also the mother of Engine Kukaste Khalwale, who recently graduated from Moringa School as a Certified Full-Stack Software Engineer.
Her death now marks another major loss for the Khalwale family.
Khalwale has previously spoken publicly about his family structure. In February 2024, he said he had four wives and 17 children.
Sekeiyan was his third wife.
His first wife, Adelaide Khalwale, was the mother of his first three children and died in 2019.
The senator’s latest announcement has brought renewed attention to the personal side of a politician who has spent years in Kenya’s political arena.
For now, the family is mourning Sekeiyan’s sudden death, while messages of condolence continue to reach Khalwale and his children.

As the family prepares to lay her to rest, political leaders and members of the public have continued to express their condolences and wish Khalwale, his children and relatives strength as they navigate the loss.
