Rigathi Gachagua Rules Out William Ruto Being Removed from Office Before 2027

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has firmly ruled out any unconstitutional attempt to remove President William Ruto before the 2027 elections.

Addressing a gathering in Naivasha on Saturday, March 29, Gachagua dismissed claims that the “Ruto Must Go” slogan signifies a push for Ruto’s immediate removal. He explained that Kenyans are merely using it to express dissatisfaction and mobilize against Ruto for the next election.

Ruto’s Fate Lies in the Ballot

Gachagua made it clear that no shortcuts exist to unseat a sitting president outside the law.

“‘Ruto Must Go’ does not mean he will be removed from office unconstitutionally. It is a clarion call for the 2027 elections,” he stated. “Ruto will be removed through a democratic process. Don’t tell us it is unconstitutional; it will be done through the ballot.”

His remarks come amid growing public discontent with Ruto’s leadership, as Kenyans voice frustrations over the high cost of living, taxation, and economic policies.

General Kahariri Warns Against Rebellion

Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, recently addressed the unrest gripping the country. He warned that the ongoing protests and opposition against the government could destabilize the nation if not handled constitutionally.

During a university lecture, Kahariri urged protesters to respect the rule of law, stating that an unchecked rebellion could turn Kenya into a failed state.

“While grievances are valid, Kenya must remain stable. The military remains apolitical but will not condone lawlessness,” he said.

His remarks fueled speculation, with many Kenyans interpreting them as an indication that Ruto might use the military to suppress dissent.

Gachagua’s Stern Warning to Kahariri

Reacting sharply to Kahariri’s comments, Gachagua advised him to stay out of politics. He warned that any attempt to involve the military in political affairs would undermine democracy.

“General Kahariri should stay in the barracks and maintain the dignity of the military. Let politicians handle politics,” Gachagua cautioned.

His statement reinforced concerns about potential government overreach in suppressing opposition voices.

Public Reactions and Growing Tensions

Kenyans have continued to voice their frustrations, using every available platform to challenge Ruto’s administration. The rising tension signals a heated political landscape as the country inches closer to the 2027 elections.

While the “Ruto Must Go” slogan grows louder, Gachagua insists that change will only come through democratic means.
