Release the Certificates or Lose Your Job!” – DP Kindiki’s Final Warning to Principals

Nakuru, Kenya – Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has sounded the alarm on school principals who continue to illegally withhold national examination certificates over unpaid school fees.

Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday, May 15, the DP delivered a bold, no-nonsense directive aimed at ending this long-standing injustice.

“There are so many schools that have refused to release certificates to students who finished their national examinations,” Kindiki said.
“I want to warn that principals who continue defying government directives are risking their jobs.”

‘We Are Not Requesting – We Are Directing!’ – Kindiki

The DP emphasized that the government will no longer tolerate disobedience.

“All heads of institutions must release certificates for all the children of Kenya,” he declared.
“After that, we will sort out fee-related issues. It is not a joke.”

He was crystal clear about where the power lies.

“I know the minister has already said it, but I’m saying this as the Deputy President. We are not requesting. We are directing.”

Parents Urged to Report ‘Stubborn’ Principals

In a rare move, Kindiki called on parents to take action.

“I would like to tell parents to report any principal who refuses to issue these certificates to the assistant chief,” he said.
“Please, principals, let us not play monkey games.”

This directive empowers ordinary citizens to be part of the enforcement mechanism.

Ministry and Government Join the Crackdown

The government is united on this front. Education CS Julius Ogamba echoed the DP’s sentiments.

“I issued a directive that teachers holding certificates should release them to all students,” Ogamba said.
“The deadline has passed. From next week, we will take action.”

He revealed a plan to have students collect certificates from sub-county education offices, bypassing hostile school heads.

Government Spokesman Backs the Directive

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura also weighed in, calling the withholding of certificates a direct violation of children’s rights.

“Denying any student access to their academic credentials undermines the very foundation of our education system,” he warned.
“The government will not tolerate this continued impunity.”

Zero Tolerance for Educational Injustice

With strong backing from the President, Deputy President, and the Ministry of Education, school heads who ignore this directive face swift dismissal and legal action.
