Weeks ago, Gachagua assured Raila that joining forces with him would finally secure his long-elusive presidential victory. Murang’a senator Joe Nyutu echoed the same, urging Raila to consider working with Gachagua to improve his chances in 2027.
However, Raila made it clear that such a move did not align with his vision.
Raila: “I Will Not Burn Kenya for Selfish Gains” Addressing mourners, Raila firmly rejected Gachagua’s offer. He emphasized that Kenya’s stability was more important than personal ambitions.
“It does not benefit me to see this country burn for selfish political interests,” Raila stated. He stressed that his goal was national unity, not political convenience.
Why Raila Prefers Working with Ruto Instead of teaming up with Gachagua, Raila hinted that he would rather collaborate with President William Ruto to ensure effective governance.
“It is necessary for me to join President Ruto and help him run the country,” Raila remarked. He suggested that he would rather focus on ensuring Kenya moves forward than engage in political scheming for 2027.
Gachagua’s Strategy in Question Gachagua’s invitation to Raila has raised questions about his political standing. Many see his move as an attempt to counter Ruto’s growing influence within Mt. Kenya.
Political analysts believe Gachagua is trying to solidify his own base by aligning with Raila, creating a power bloc that could challenge Ruto’s dominance.
However, with Raila’s rejection, it remains unclear what Gachagua’s next move will be.
