President Ruto Jets to Arusha for High-Stakes EAC Summit
President William Ruto has traveled to Arusha, Tanzania, for the 24th Ordinary Summit of East African Heads of State. This pivotal meeting aims to address regional challenges and accelerate East African Community (EAC) integration.
Key Focus of the Summit
The summit brings leaders together to tackle pressing issues affecting East Africa. State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed highlighted the agenda:
“President Ruto will advocate for removing trade barriers, boosting cross-border commerce, and enhancing partnerships in energy, agriculture, and digital innovation. These steps aim to create jobs and improve livelihoods.”
The discussions will also explore ways to strengthen economic resilience and combat climate change. Leaders will address regional security threats and formulate strategies to fight transnational crimes.

Peace and Security at the Forefront

“Key initiatives such as the South Sudanese Tumaini Initiative and the EAC-led Nairobi process on peace and security in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo will feature prominently.”
