Pregnant Student Brutally Killed in Suspected Love Triangle in Homa Bay
Homa Bay County is in shock after a gruesome murder of a 20-year-old first-year student at a National Polytechnic. The victim, reportedly pregnant, was brutally stabbed by her alleged boyfriend in what authorities suspect was a love triangle gone wrong.
The tragic incident occurred in the victim’s hostel on the morning of Saturday, February 1. Witnesses reported hearing screams before discovering the young woman bleeding profusely.
Violent Attack in Hostel
According to preliminary police reports, the suspect, also a student, visited the victim on Friday evening. They allegedly spent the night together before a heated altercation erupted around 5 a.m. on Saturday.
“The victim was found bleeding and calling for help. She had a deep stab wound on her abdomen,” police said.
She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries. Medical officials confirmed that she lost her unborn child in the attack.

Suspect on the Run
“We are urging the suspect to surrender for questioning,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body was moved to a local mortuary for an autopsy. Authorities are gathering more evidence to establish what transpired before the attack.
Another Fatal Stabbing Linked to Love Conflict
In a separate incident, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by a student from a Teachers Training College (TTC) in Ongogo Tir village. Police believe the altercation stemmed from a dispute over a female Form Four student.
The confrontation quickly escalated, leaving the victim fatally wounded. He was rushed to Homa Bay Referral Hospital but died on arrival.
The suspect was arrested and is currently in custody at the Mbita Police Station. The victim’s body has been transferred to a local mortuary for an autopsy.
Growing Concern Over Campus Violence
These shocking cases have raised concerns over rising violence among students. Authorities are urging educational institutions to strengthen counseling services and security measures.
As investigations continue, families of the victims are left mourning the tragic loss of young lives.
