Pastor Ng’ang’a Explodes Over Alleged Plot to Grab His CBD Church Land: “Write Me a Letter!”
Fiery Showdown Between Church and County
In a passionate outburst on social media, the outspoken preacher claimed the county is using fake land rate claims to extort KSh10 million from his church.
“I was given a letter by Mike Sonko, who gave us a waiver on churches in town. I have the papers,” Ng’ang’a declared.
Ng’ang’a Accuses City Hall of Political Witch Hunt
The pastor revealed that his CBD church along Haile Selassie Avenue benefited from a land rate waiver granted by former Governor Mike Sonko.
“Since you came into office, you’ve never given us a letter to cancel it,” he said.
“Write me a letter cancelling the waiver… I’ve not declined to pay.”
Ng’ang’a believes that the push is part of a wider political campaign to squeeze religious institutions dry.
County Shuts Buildings, Threatens More Closures
Ng’ang’a’s accusations came just days after Nairobi County shut down four CBD buildings over unpaid land rates.
The county’s Receiver of Revenue, Tiras Njoroge, explained that the move targets billions lost due to non-compliance.

Shockingly, out of 256,000 registered land parcels, only 50,000 are paying rates. That’s a compliance rate of just 20%.
“We gave them time to pay, but they ignored us,” Njoroge said.
The county now plans to shut 20 more properties, with many religious centres, including Ng’ang’a’s church, in the firing line.
Ng’ang’a Stands Firm: “Come On Wednesday!”
The bold pastor didn’t hold back. He even mocked the county’s tactics.
“If the Freemasons have refused to pay, don’t say I’ve refused. If I’ve refused, come on Wednesday. That’s the price of shoes!”
Ng’ang’a challenged the county to put their demands in writing.
“You charge me your own rates through a letter. If you want cash, I’ll give you cash!” he fired back.
What’s Next?
With tensions rising, Nairobians now wait to see whether City Hall will respond formally or intensify the crackdown.

Pastor Ng’ang’a has drawn a line in the sand—he won’t budge without due process.
