OCS Paid Technician to Hide Evidence? Explosive Claims Shake Ojwang Case
In a chilling revelation, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) told the Milimani Law Courts that Taalam allegedly paid a technician Ksh3,000 to delete key surveillance footage.
“As the custodian of the station’s surveillance system, Taalam paid for the deletion,” the DPP told the court.
The footage, which allegedly captured events from June 6 and June 7, vanished just as public pressure mounted for answers on what happened to Ojwang while in police custody.
The Technician Speaks Out
According to insider reports, the technician was summoned by a police officer around 6 a.m. on June 8.
“I was called to report to the station urgently. I was taken to the DVR room and asked to delete footage,” he reportedly told investigators.
He had installed all 25 cameras and the digital video recorder (DVR) at the station earlier this year.

“They gave me Ksh3,000 after I deleted the two days’ footage,” he added.
By Friday, June 13, the technician had been arrested in a dawn operation at his home in a Nairobi estate.
OCS Taalam Arrested After Disappearing
OCS Taalam, a man once entrusted to uphold the law, was arrested in Eldoret on Friday after allegedly going into hiding.
He was handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for interrogation.
“There’s a high likelihood he’ll interfere with witnesses,” said the prosecution, urging a 21-day detention.

“Before booking, report office personnel called the OCS. He declined to book the suspect,” Amin stated.
This positions Taalam not only as an accessory after the fact, but possibly as a key orchestrator of a cover-up.
Justice Delayed or Justice Buried?
The revelations have sparked public outrage. Citizens are demanding accountability, transparency, and immediate prosecution of all officers involved in Ojwang’s suspicious death.

With top police leadership now under fire, the integrity of the entire criminal justice system is on trial.
