Moses Kuria Blasts “Ungodly” Attack on Gachagua During Church Service Chaos in Mwiki

What was meant to be a peaceful worship service turned ugly on Sunday, April 6, in Mwiki, Kasarani, when armed goons stormed a church attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Despite the chaos, Gachagua remained calm in his seat. Outside, his supporters and security were forced into running battles to push back the attackers.

Kuria: “The Lightning Is Still Loading”

President Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, condemned the attack in the strongest terms.

“This is utterly ungodly,” Kuria declared. “Leave your backward and primitive political wars out of places of worship.”

He emotionally compared the Mwiki incident to the infamous Kenol church chaos in 2021 that involved violence during a similar political visit by then Deputy President William Ruto.

“Today was AIPCA Kenol reloaded,” Kuria added. “The lightning that will strike us is still loading. Pole sana, Rigathi Gachagua.”

Kalonzo: “A National Shame”

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka also reacted sharply, calling the incident a national disgrace. He accused the Kenya Kwanza government of sponsoring violence against its critics.

“The attack on Second Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at Kasarani PCEA Church, Mwiki, was a national shame,” Kalonzo stated.

He didn’t hold back: “We call out these State-sponsored militia as workers of inequity and servants of the devil.”

Kalonzo warned President Ruto directly. “Mr. Ruto, STOP it! Why pay citizens to attend your meetings? Something is very wrong. Your fundamentals are compromised.”

Gachagua Points Fingers at Ruto, Sakaja, and Police IG

Following the incident, Gachagua broke his silence. He directly blamed President Ruto for orchestrating the violence.

He alleged that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was used to hire goons and that the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, refused to provide security for his event.

“They want to block my freedom of movement,” Gachagua claimed. He even cited an earlier incident in Naivasha, where police allegedly tried to stop him from addressing a political rally.

Churches Cry Out: “Respect the Pulpit”

Across the country, religious leaders and citizens have expressed anger and grief over the violence in Mwiki. Many say political rivalries must never cross into sacred spaces.

Now, Kenyans are watching closely. Will the leaders involved address the rising political heat before it consumes more ground?
