Linda Mwananchi Alleges Plot to Use Goons to Disrupt Homa Bay Rally
Orengo made the allegations on Wednesday, August 12, while addressing journalists alongside members of the Linda Mwananchi movement.
According to Orengo, a secret meeting was allegedly held on the night of Monday, August 10, shortly after a UDA-ODM Broad-Based Parliamentary Group meeting in Naivasha.

He alleged that weapons were distributed during the meeting, including traditional weapons such as rungus and arrows.
“We have all the details of what they are planning. Yesterday, they had a night meeting after the UDA-ODM meeting at Governor’s Park, where weapons were distributed. Rungus, arrows, and hangars, they were distributed last night.”
Orengo further claimed that some of the weapons were allegedly kept at a governor’s residence for possible use later.
He described the alleged location as a centre that he claimed had been used for political mobilisation during previous election campaigns.
Claims of Another Meeting in Homa Bay
Orengo also alleged that another meeting was held on Monday at the residence of Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.
According to the Siaya governor, the gathering involved a group of individuals whom he described as goons.
The planned Homa Bay gathering comes as political leaders continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Security Concerns Ahead of Rally
Political rallies in Kenya have in the past been disrupted by confrontations between rival groups, prompting calls for police authorities to provide adequate security for public gatherings.
The allegations by Orengo could therefore increase pressure on security agencies to monitor developments in Homa Bay ahead of Sunday’s event.
The allegations also come against the backdrop of renewed political realignments involving leaders associated with both the government and opposition.
The Naivasha parliamentary group meeting referenced by Orengo brought together lawmakers associated with the two political formations as discussions over future cooperation continue.
Rally Expected to Attract Political Leaders
The Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay is expected to attract political leaders and supporters from the region as preparations intensify.
The event could also provide a platform for leaders to address growing political questions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Authorities have yet to publicly respond to Orengo’s claims regarding the alleged distribution of weapons or mobilisation of goons.

The focus is now likely to turn to security preparations and whether Sunday’s gathering proceeds peacefully as organisers expect.
