Kenyan Women Slam ‘Black American’ Man Over Claims of Superiority
A viral video featuring a Black American man, Brandon Ondira, has sparked outrage among Kenyan women. In the clip, Ondira, one of the self-proclaimed “passport bros,” made disparaging remarks about Kenyan women’s earnings and lifestyles.
“So listen up,” Ondira began in the video. “I see some ladies out here talking recklessly about passport bros. Be careful. Those ain’t facts. Those are lies. Let’s talk numbers.”
He claimed Kenyan women earn an average of $200 monthly, while “passport bros” make between $5,000 and $15,000. Ondira added, “Deep down, you want what we have—the lifestyle, the stability, the opportunity. We are better in every way. Better educated, better looking, better providers, and better options.”
Kenyan Women Fight Back
The remarks did not sit well with Kenyan women, who took to social media to express their anger. One TikToker, @cherinah, delivered a sharp response, accusing Ondira of arrogance and ignorance.
“Let the money run out,” she said, “then you will learn in Kenya. Money speaks multiple languages. I know they are not telling you the truth.”
She pointed out that the charm and accents of “passport bros” aren’t the real attraction. “It’s the dollar. When it runs out, you will find out the truth,” Cherinah added.
Wider Reactions on Social Media
The video ignited a heated debate online, with many Kenyan women calling Ondira’s statements disrespectful. Others argued that the comparison between Kenyan women and “passport bros” was flawed and condescending.
Several commentators highlighted the resilience and achievements of Kenyan women, urging Ondira to recognize their contributions beyond monetary metrics.
The incident underscores the cultural misunderstandings and tensions that can arise in cross-cultural exchanges, especially when framed in a dismissive tone.
As the debate continues, many hope the conversation will lead to greater respect and understanding between different communities.
