Civil Servants Risk September Salary Delay if Data Not Submitted, PS Warns
Civil servants may face delayed salaries in September if ministries and counties fail to submit crucial data on time.
Public Service Principal Secretary Jane Imbunya issued the warning on Monday morning during an interview on Citizen Radio.
“I want to warn all government agencies that have not submitted their data to the Ministry of Public Service so that we can compile that on the Human Resource Information System. You risk missing out on your September money allocation to remit to their pay,” Imbunya cautioned.
Push for Accountability
The government is compiling workers’ details under the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The platform consolidates every public servant’s information into one digital profile.

She stressed that reforms will end the culture of ghost workers and duplicated entries that drain taxpayers’ money.
Ghost Workers in the Crosshairs
The HRIS platform will also ensure each ministry and county pays salaries only for legitimate positions recognized under the law.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku earlier revealed that a new mobile app is also underway. The app, developed with a local telecom firm, will eventually process payments for every civil servant.
Call for Urgency
“I ask all government levels, from the county and national government, to write and request access to update your system on the automated e-platform,” Imbunya urged.
She emphasized that incomplete submissions will not be processed.
Reforms for Service Delivery
Imbunya reminded Kenyans that reforms remain at the heart of President Ruto’s administration. She assured that more measures will follow to improve service delivery.

“These reforms will not only improve accountability but also ensure fairness and efficiency in how public servants are managed,” she said.
