Agony in Meru: Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband and Dumped in Drainage Pipes

A family in Meru County is in deep agony after their loved one was allegedly murdered by her husband. Samuel Miritu Mureithi is the prime suspect in the brutal killing of his 45-year-old wife, Catherine. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for him.

Tragic Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly

Mureithi reportedly killed Catherine shortly after they got home following a heated argument. Witnesses said the couple was last seen walking together while bitterly quarreling. Hours later, residents discovered Catherine’s lifeless body stuffed inside drainage pipes.

Police believe Mureithi used a sharp object to end his wife’s life before dumping her body under a culvert. The suspect then fled, leaving behind a grieving family and a shocked community.

Police Launch Manhunt for Mureithi

Authorities are working tirelessly to locate Mureithi. Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Eliakim Silgich confirmed the search is ongoing.

“We are in the process of looking for this man so that he can explain what happened. The law will take its course,” Silgich said.

He also assured residents that justice would be served. The victim’s body was taken to Nyambene Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.

Family Mourns a Painful Loss

Catherine’s brothers, James Kirimi and Jackson Mwendia, are struggling to come to terms with her gruesome murder. They heartbreakingly recounted seeing their sister’s body at the hospital. The inhumane act has left them devastated, and they are now demanding justice.

“She did not deserve to die this way. We want the suspect arrested immediately,” James said, fighting back tears.

Couple Had a Troubled Marriage

Local authorities revealed that Catherine’s mother had previously reported the couple’s frequent fights. Assistant Chief Simon Kaberia of Kabuline Location, Ikuu Sublocation, confirmed that Mureithi had been summoned and had promised to change.

“The mother told me about the disputes. We tried to intervene. The man had little to say but promised to be better,” Kaberia stated. Sadly, that promise was never kept.

Rising Murder Cases Worry Authorities

OCPD Silgich admitted that murder cases have been rising in the region. However, he reassured residents that suspects are always arrested and held accountable.

A Community Demands Justice

As the police continue their search, Catherine’s family and neighbors are calling for swift action. They want Mureithi arrested and punished for his alleged crime. Meanwhile, the tragedy has sparked conversations about domestic violence and the urgent need for stronger protective measures.
