CCTV Footage Reveals MP Were’s Final Moments and Suspected Killer
Shock and sadness have gripped Kenya following the cold-blooded murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were on Wednesday evening, April 30. Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have now made major strides in unmasking his killer.
Were met his tragic end along Ngong Road near the City Mortuary roundabout. Armed gunmen, reportedly trailing his vehicle, ambushed him and fired four deadly shots.
Chilling CCTV Evidence Emerges

“We have secured clear footage of the suspect shadowing the MP’s car,” a senior detective confirmed.
“This has given our investigations a major boost.”
Witnesses Provide Crucial Leads
That evening, Were left Parliament Buildings around 7 p.m. in the company of his driver and bodyguard. They first headed to City Hall Way, then onto Wabera Street.
At Wabera, the MP’s bodyguard briefly left the car to deposit Ksh 20,000 at a nearby M-Pesa shop. Unknown to them, danger lurked close by.
Killer Trails the MP Across Town
CCTV footage captured a suspicious man monitoring the MP’s car while parked at Wabera Street. The man’s identity remains unknown, but his every move was cold and calculated.

At around 7:30 p.m., Were’s team left Wabera, heading toward Kenyatta Avenue. To avoid traffic, they switched to Ralph Bunche Road, then onto Argwings Kodhek Road.
Brazen Attack Unfolds
Moments later, horror struck. The suspect jumped off a motorcycle, quickly circled the MP’s car, and opened fire at close range.
“The first bullet shattered the window,” a detective revealed.
“The other shots struck Were’s hand and chest.”
The bodyguard bravely tried to pursue the killers but failed. Left with no choice, he rushed Were to Nairobi Hospital. Tragically, Were was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hunt for Killer Intensifies
DCI officers are now working around the clock, analyzing CCTV footage and following fresh leads. Kenyans are demanding justice, as grief turns to anger.
The nation waits with bated breath, hoping the killers will be brought to book soon.
