Kisii: Five Arrested in NACADA-Led Raid That Exposed Major Illicit Brew Syndicate
The early morning operation led to the arrest of five suspects, including three women and two men. The group allegedly brewed and distributed the illegal drinks, fueling crime and social instability in the region. Officers also confiscated brewing equipment from a four-acre plot, which had been transformed into a full-fledged illicit alcohol plant.
Authorities Issue Stern Warning
NACADA Chief Executive Officer Anthony Omerikwa lauded the raid, calling it a significant victory in the fight against illegal alcohol.
“This operation is a major step forward in our efforts to rid the country of illegal brews. This is a clear message to all those involved in this trade—we are coming for you,” he warned.
Omerikwa also announced plans to seize the land where the brewing plant operated.
“This property is a crime scene. We will ensure it is returned to the state and used for purposes that benefit the people,” he stated.
Residents Breathe a Sigh of Relief
The raid received widespread support from local residents, who had long complained about the negative impact of the brewing site. Many blamed the illegal alcohol trade for increased crime and moral decay in the community.
Area Chief Samuel Nyabuto commended the authorities for their swift action and urged residents to remain vigilant.
“This brewing den has been a menace for years. We encourage the public to report any illegal activities so that we can put an end to this destruction,” he said.

Suspects to Face Charges
The five arrested individuals are expected to be arraigned in court as NACADA intensifies its nationwide crackdown on illicit alcohol. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating illegal brewing operations and protecting communities from their harmful effects.
