Tragedy on Molo-Keringet Road: Two Killed, Several Injured in Matatu-School Bus Crash
A devastating road accident on the Molo-Keringet road has left two people dead and several others injured after a matatu collided head-on with a school bus. The crash occurred near Seguton in the evening, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Deadly Collision Claims Two Lives
Molo Sub-County Police Commander Timon Ondingo confirmed the tragic incident. He stated that the Nissan Matatu, traveling toward Molo, crashed into a school bus ferrying students back to Keringet.
“The collision was severe. Sadly, the matatu driver and one other passenger died on the spot,” Ondingo reported.
Rescue Efforts Underway
Emergency teams rushed to the scene to assist. Security officers worked to clear traffic and help evacuate victims from the wreckage. However, eyewitnesses described a chaotic situation.
“People are trapped inside the matatu. There is no police or rescue team yet. It’s heartbreaking to watch,” said Zadock Langat, an eyewitness.
Some victims received first aid before being transferred to Keringet Sub-County Hospital. Others, in critical condition, were rushed to Nakuru PGH Hospital for specialized treatment. The number of casualties is expected to rise.
Eyewitnesses Describe a Horrific Scene
Witnesses reported that the impact was so powerful that the matatu’s bonnet was completely wedged inside the school bus.

“The crash was intense. The matatu is unrecognizable,” one local stated.
The accident reignites concerns about road safety in the region, with residents calling for urgent intervention.
Dangerous Road Claims More Lives
This location has witnessed multiple fatal accidents before. Locals blame poor road conditions and adverse weather for the recurring tragedies.
“The ongoing rains have worsened visibility and road stability. Drivers struggle to navigate,” a resident lamented.
Just two weeks ago, a horrific crash at Migaa near Salgaa claimed 14 lives when a lorry lost control and slammed into a matatu.
Government Efforts to Curb Accidents
Authorities have taken steps to improve road safety in the region. Following the deadly Sachangwan tanker fire that killed over 130 people, the government installed traffic separation grids along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. This measure significantly reduced accidents.
Additionally, the Ngata Bridge-Sobea stretch in Rongai Sub-County underwent lane expansion and separation to curb rising accidents.
Calls for Urgent Action
Residents are now demanding similar interventions on the Molo-Keringet road. They urge the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to act swiftly before more lives are lost.
“We can’t keep losing loved ones. Something must be done,” a grieving resident pleaded.
As investigations continue, families mourn their losses while others pray for the recovery of the injured. The tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the need for stricter road safety measures.
