DCI Detectives Raid Nairobi Hospital, Uncover Key Evidence in Ongoing Probe
Nairobi, Kenya – The Nairobi Hospital is at the center of a growing controversy after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided its premises and recovered crucial documents linked to an ongoing corruption probe.
Sensitive Documents Discarded
The hospital allegedly disposed of sensitive files, including contracts, financial records, board packs, and tender documents. These documents, removed from senior managers’ offices, were later found in a general waste storage area.
Acting on a tip-off, detectives swiftly responded. A source close to the operation revealed, “The heap of waste was carefully unstacked by the team, and the polythene sacks were removed one by one. Twelve were tagged with white labels, while eighteen were untagged. A random perusal indicates they contain details of contracts, board packs, and finance records. The sacks are now in custody.”
Suspicions of Cover-Up
The discovery has raised serious concerns about the timing and intent behind the disposal. Who authorized the move? Why were crucial financial and governance documents discarded while the hospital is under investigation? Many believe this could be part of an elaborate effort to destroy evidence and obstruct justice.
Some stakeholders fear that the hospital’s management may have attempted to cover up malpractice and mismanagement. The institution is currently under investigation for abuse of office, conspiracy to commit an economic crime, and money laundering. Reports also implicate top officials in corruption, nepotism, and non-compliance with regulations.
Doctors Strike Over KSh 2 Billion Fraud
This latest development follows a doctors’ strike in September 2024, where medical professionals protested alleged mismanagement of KSh 2 billion. The Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) accused the hospital’s board of financial misconduct and demanded leadership changes.
During the strike, doctors halted new admissions, treating only emergency cases and existing patients. KHA insisted the strike would continue until leadership issues were addressed. The association scheduled an Extraordinary General Meeting on September 18 to discuss the crisis and push for financial transparency.

However, Nairobi Hospital dismissed the strike reports, assuring the public that operations remained normal. The hospital also defended its employment policies, stating they promoted fairness and minimized labor disputes.
Silence from the Hospital’s Management
Efforts to obtain a response from the hospital’s top officials have been futile. Multiple calls for comment went unanswered, deepening concerns about accountability.
With mounting pressure from investigators, medical professionals, and the public, the Nairobi Hospital now faces an urgent need to address governance failures. Calls for an independent audit are growing louder as stakeholders demand answers.
As the DCI continues its probe, the fate of the hospital’s leadership remains uncertain. Will justice prevail, or will the evidence disappear in the shadows of corruption?
