Ruto Reveals Phone Call with Sakaja Over Garbage Dumping at KPLC Offices: “Aliomba Msamaha”
Speaking during a church service in Roysambu on Sunday, March 2, Ruto narrated how he personally stepped in to resolve the heated dispute between the Nairobi County Government and KPLC. He confirmed that he made direct calls to both Sakaja and KPLC officials, urging them to find an amicable solution.
Sakaja Apologises After Ruto’s Call
The president praised Sakaja for his willingness to admit his mistake and seek reconciliation. He described the governor as a courageous leader who took responsibility for his actions.
“I want to thank Governor Sakaja. Recently, they made a mistake. I called him and also called the others, telling them they had to stop this issue,” Ruto revealed.
He further commended Sakaja for issuing an apology after their conversation.
“I am grateful that the governor apologised because a mistake was made, and it takes a courageous leader to say ‘I’m sorry,’” Ruto added.
A Stronger Nairobi Moving Forward
Ruto assured Nairobi residents that he fully supports Sakaja’s efforts in transforming the city. He encouraged the governor to focus on service delivery rather than conflicts.

“Governor, congratulations for apologising. We must now pick up from there and move forward together to build a strong city and a strong nation,” he stated.
Background: The Nairobi-KPLC Standoff
Tensions flared when KPLC cut off power to various county facilities, citing unpaid electricity bills. In response, county officials dumped heaps of garbage outside the company’s headquarters in what appeared to be an act of defiance.
The dramatic showdown drew public criticism, with many calling for dialogue instead of confrontation. Ruto’s intervention now signals a move towards resolving the dispute and restoring normalcy.
As Nairobi County and KPLC mend relations, residents hope for a more coordinated approach to addressing financial disputes between public entities.
