Kithure Kindiki Storms Nyeri, Delivers Development Promises, and Condemns Tribal Politics

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has intensified efforts to strengthen the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s grip in Mount Kenya. On Friday, January 31, he stormed Nyeri County, the political backyard of his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua, and dismissed tribal politics as divisive.

Kindiki Prioritizes Service Over Politics

Addressing Kieni residents, Kindiki emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza government is focused on service delivery rather than political battles.

“To get involved in politics at this time is reckless. Service delivery and bettering the lives of Kenyans are our top priorities,” he said.

He urged leaders to put aside political disputes and focus on improving citizens’ welfare.

Government to Complete Nyeri Road Projects

Kindiki delivered good news to Nyeri residents, assuring them that road projects would be completed promptly. He explained that delays were due to the government’s initial focus on economic stability.

“The economy has stabilized, and there is money to build roads. We are completing more than 12 roads in Nyeri worth KSh 17 billion,” he stated.

He further defended President William Ruto’s administration, arguing that prioritizing economic recovery was necessary before launching new projects.

Expanding Electricity Access

The deputy president also announced a plan to increase electricity connectivity nationwide.

“The government will connect more than one million customers to the national grid in the next 20 months under the last mile connectivity programme,” he revealed.

This initiative aims to raise household electricity connections from 2.5 million in 2013 to 9 million by 2025.

Boosting Market Infrastructure

Kindiki disclosed that 400 new markets are under construction across the country. He pledged to inspect those in Nyeri before their official opening by the president.

“The government is committed to job creation and improving roads, water, and energy. Political disputes will not divert us,” he assured the crowd.

Kindiki Rebukes Gachagua Over Divisive Politics

In a separate rally in Kimumu, Mbeere North, on January 5, Kindiki strongly criticized Gachagua. He accused him of inciting Mount Kenya residents against the Kenya Kwanza government.

He condemned the heckling of Ruto’s allies in Embu during Gachagua’s visit, linking it to incitement.

“We must unite and focus on development instead of sowing division,” he warned.

Kindiki reaffirmed that the government’s primary mission is to improve lives, not engage in endless political conflicts.
