Gachagua Hosts Maa Leaders at Nyeri Home, Charts Path to National Unity

Nyeri, Kenya — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday welcomed a delegation of Maa leaders to his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County. The gathering addressed issues affecting the Maasai community and broader national concerns, emphasizing unity and solutions to the nation’s pressing challenges.

Tackling Challenges Together

Gachagua underscored the urgency of collaboration to move Kenya forward during these turbulent times.

“We move forward to a better and equal Kenya as a people,” he said. “I continue to listen to and engage stakeholders and opinion shapers on what one united nation deserves, especially now when we are on the precipice of an economic, social, and political nosedive.

The former DP spent the entire day with leaders from Kajiado and Narok counties. Among those present were Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo, Kajiado East MP Joshua Olowuasa, Narok North MP Martin Olekamwaro, and community elders Benson Saayo and Abraham Osoi.

Recognizing Maa Leaders’ Contributions

During the meeting, Gachagua praised the delegation for their deep knowledge and unwavering patriotism.

“I commend these leaders for their immense knowledge and patriotism for our motherland,” he said. “Their insights extend beyond the Maa community to issues affecting the entire nation.”

The leaders voiced concerns about challenges facing their communities, highlighting the need for practical solutions that resonate across Kenya.

Strengthening Historic Ties

This meeting followed similar gatherings held at Wamunyoro residence earlier this month. On January 8, Gachagua hosted Kajiado West elders. He reflected on the historic relationship between the Maa and Mount Kenya communities, emphasizing their shared struggles and triumphs dating back to pre-independence.

“We revisited the close ties the Maa community has had with Mount Kenya communities,” he noted. “These ties demonstrate a legacy of collaboration that continues to inspire unity.”

Additionally, on January 7, Gachagua consulted with the Kikuyu Council of Elders. He discussed priorities for 2025, focusing on political direction and social integration.

A New Political Chapter

As reports reveal, Gachagua is preparing to launch a political party in early February. The move seeks to solidify his influence in the Mount Kenya region and position him for the 2027 elections.

“We are ready, and the party will be unveiled next month,” said former Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru. She disclosed that blue would feature among the party’s colors.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya added, “The People’s Deputy President will soon launch a party that will shake the country’s political landscape.”

This latest meeting signals Gachagua’s growing determination to lead Kenya towards unity and progress amid challenging times.
