UAE Grants 30-Day Visa Grace Period for Kenyans Stranded by Regional Flight Disruptions
The announcement was communicated through the Kenyan Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, June 20, with officials urging affected Kenyans to take immediate action to regularize their stay or arrange departure before the deadline expires.
According to the embassy, the special grace period will remain in force until July 9, 2026, allowing eligible individuals to correct their residency status without facing overstay penalties that would ordinarily apply under UAE immigration regulations.

Relief for Kenyans Affected by Travel Delays
The advisory comes at a time when thousands of travelers across the Middle East have faced significant disruptions to their travel plans due to operational challenges affecting regional air travel. Many passengers were left stranded or unable to depart before the expiry of their visas, creating concerns over potential fines and immigration complications.
The Kenyan Embassy urged all eligible citizens to verify their visa status immediately and begin the necessary procedures well before the July 9 deadline.
Officials further noted that delays in addressing immigration documentation could lead to complications once the grace period expires.
Strengthening Kenya-UAE Relations

The Gulf nation remains one of the most important destinations for Kenyan professionals, entrepreneurs and migrant workers seeking employment and business opportunities abroad. Thousands of Kenyans currently live and work in the UAE, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In recent years, both governments have intensified efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and facilitate easier movement of people and investments between the two countries.
At the time, UAE authorities emphasized the importance of creating a favorable environment for entrepreneurs, investors and business travelers from East Africa.
Growing Economic and Security Cooperation
The visa grace period announcement also comes amid renewed engagement between Kenyan and Emirati officials on several strategic projects.
Recently, senior representatives from Kenya’s National Treasury and the State Department for Defence held discussions with officials from Abu Dhabi regarding potential collaboration under the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Modernisation Programme.
The talks underscored the increasingly broad nature of Kenya-UAE relations, which now extend beyond trade and tourism to include infrastructure development, technology transfer, security cooperation and investment partnerships.

As the July 9 deadline approaches, immigration experts expect many affected travelers to utilize the grace period to regularize their status, ensuring they remain compliant with UAE regulations while benefiting from the temporary relief measures offered by authorities.
