Nairobi Water Announces Applications For 295 Jobs; How To Apply

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has reopened applications for 295 job opportunities across 31 categories, in a recruitment drive aimed at strengthening its workforce and improving service delivery to residents in Nairobi.

In a notice issued on May 4, the utility company said the hiring initiative is part of its broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and meet the growing demand for water and sewerage services in the capital.

Announcing the vacancies, the company stated, “As part of continued growth and team strengthening, NCWSC is looking for qualified, competent, seasoned and talented professionals capable of operating in the fast-paced and demanding environment to fill the following positions.”

The advertised roles span technical, operational, and administrative functions, with the largest share going to artisans in water and sewer services. A total of 80 positions have been allocated to this category, making it the single largest group of vacancies.

Driver positions follow closely with 70 openings, collectively accounting for more than half of the total opportunities available. Other significant categories include 27 positions for ungraded artisans, 25 labourer roles across various operational zones, and 18 openings for data verification assistants.

In the technical field, the company has advertised several engineering positions, including four Civil Engineering Officer roles, three Mechanical Engineering Officer positions, and three Electrical Engineering Officer posts. These positions will be offered on five-year renewable contracts, reflecting a focus on long-term capacity building within the organisation.

Legal professionals have also been targeted in the recruitment drive, with one vacancy for a Legal Officer under Corporate Services and two positions in Dispute Resolution. Additional roles include one Survey Officer and two Survey Assistants.

Other specialised positions available include ICT Assistants, Bulk Metering Operators, Excavator Operators, Leak Detection and Leak Scouting Operators, as well as Meter Testing personnel. The wide range of roles reflects the company’s intent to reinforce multiple departments simultaneously.

Applicants interested in the positions are required to submit a comprehensive application package, including an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV), copies of academic and professional certificates, and any supporting testimonials relevant to the role. Candidates must also provide contact details for at least three referees, including one current or former employer.

Outlining the application process, the company advised, “Applicants are encouraged to visit the official website and access the ‘Work With Us’ section to review detailed job descriptions before applying.” This step is intended to ensure that candidates understand the requirements and responsibilities associated with each role.

Applications must be clearly labelled with the job title and reference number to facilitate proper processing. Submissions can be made through hand delivery, registered mail, or courier services, addressed to the Managing Director at the company’s headquarters along Kampala Road in the Industrial Area.

The utility firm has emphasised its commitment to inclusivity and fairness throughout the recruitment process. It reiterated, “NCWSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, fully committed to diversity and gender equality.” This means that women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Existing employees who meet the qualifications have also been invited to apply, highlighting opportunities for internal career progression within the organisation.

The deadline for all applications has been set for May 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM East Africa Time. The company has clarified that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the review process is completed.

Analysts note that the recruitment drive comes at a time when Nairobi continues to face growing pressure on water infrastructure due to rapid urbanisation and population growth. Expanding the workforce is expected to play a key role in addressing service gaps and improving efficiency.

As competition for public sector jobs remains high, the announcement is likely to attract a large pool of applicants seeking opportunities in one of the city’s most critical service providers.
