CS Wahome Dares Senator to Court Over Ruiru Land Grabbing Allegations
A fierce war of words has erupted between Land Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome and Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa. The senator accused Wahome, her daughter, and President William Ruto of orchestrating a land-grabbing scheme in Ruiru.
Speaking at a political rally on Sunday, September 14, Thang’wa made explosive claims.
“They are asking landowners to surrender title deeds. This is a coordinated grab,” he alleged.
He spoke alongside Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, intensifying the political heat.
Wahome Fires Back, Threatens Legal Action
On Monday, September 15, Wahome responded with fury. She announced plans to sue the senator for defamation within 30 days.

“Karungo wa Thang’wa will meet me in court for scandalising me maliciously without any fact or any evidence,” Wahome declared. “When you find him, tell him we shall meet in court.”
She held up land documents and explained that the property had long been tied up in litigation. Buyers, she said, knew the risks but ignored them due to cheap prices.
“The court ruled on July 10 that the land was fraudulently sold without the consent of the rightful owners—the Kanyutu family,” she added.
Daughter’s Role Clarified
“She was simply continuing her legal practice. She is not involved in any land ownership,” Wahome stated.
She emphasized that she owns no land in Kiambu and has no stake in the disputed property.
Accusations Called Political Propaganda
Wahome accused Thang’wa of politicizing the issue to mislead the public.
“The allegation by the Kiambu senator is false, malicious and intended to bring me into disrepute,” she said. “It is obvious he picked this issue to incite the government with hopeless and cheap propaganda.”
She insisted that the senator never contacted her for clarification before making the claims public.

A Legal Battle Looms
As tensions rise, Wahome remains defiant. She vowed not to be intimidated by political jabs and promised to defend her reputation in court.
“I will not be bullied. I will fight this in court,” she affirmed.
The unfolding drama has sparked national attention, with Kenyans demanding truth and accountability from both sides.
