Ruto Promises Ksh 76.5B Projects, New Stadium to Kiambu Residents During State House Meeting

President William Ruto has promised Kiambu residents a development windfall worth over Ksh76.5 billion. The Head of State made the pledge on Wednesday, August 27, during a high-profile meeting with grassroots leaders at State House.

Ruto Unveils Stadium, Housing and Market Plans

Speaking on the newly declared Katiba Day, Ruto outlined his three-year achievements before unveiling upcoming projects.

He promised to build a new 10,000-seater stadium in Thika town, a move that drew excitement among leaders and residents.

The President also disclosed that his government will construct 35 modern markets across the county, at a total cost of Ksh4.5 billion.

“We are delivering the largest markets development project in Kenya’s history, including 30 markets here in Kiambu,” Ruto said.

In addition, at least 15,000 affordable housing units will be built in the county under a Ksh30 billion housing program.

Billions Poured Into Roads and Infrastructure

Turning to road infrastructure, Ruto committed Ksh22 billion to complete the 240-kilometre Mau Mau road network and the dualisation of the Muthaiga–Ndumberi road.

He further announced that Ksh20 billion had been set aside to complete the stalled Northern Bypass project, which will ease traffic congestion in Nairobi and Kiambu.

“These projects will not only transform Kiambu, but also spur economic growth for the entire Mt. Kenya region,” he explained.

Health System Overhaul

The President also touched on the country’s troubled healthcare sector. With the ongoing scandal in the Social Health Authority (SHA), Ruto said his administration was cleaning up the system.

“The digitisation of the health system under SHA is enabling us to identify and eliminate fraud,” he stated.

He went on to issue a stern warning to rogue facilities that have been defrauding the public.

“Fraudulent health facilities are not only being shut down, but will also be compelled to refund whatever they claimed. Culprits will be prosecuted,” he warned.

So far, more than 700 facilities have been closed, with investigations ongoing.

A Broader Promise

Beyond Kiambu, the Head of State assured Kenyans that his administration is committed to transforming healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and employment opportunities nationwide.

“Our focus remains to create jobs, empower farmers, modernise infrastructure, and ensure every Kenyan has access to quality healthcare,” Ruto said.

For Kiambu residents, however, the President’s multibillion-shilling promises signal a new dawn of hope, though the question remains whether these pledges will turn into reality.
