CS Duale Demands Compensation for Terror Victims in North Eastern During Uhuru’s Era

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called for urgent compensation for terror victims who lost their lives in North Eastern during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

Duale Demands Equity for Victims

Speaking passionately, Duale insisted that families in the region had suffered neglect for far too long. He said the government must address their pain and ensure fairness.

He declared,

“So many people died during the previous administration, and let me make it clear that if there is compensation, the people who died in the North-Eastern region during the previous administration must be compensated.”

“No Superior Region in Kenya”

Duale condemned leaders who portray some communities as superior to others. He stressed that such politics only divide the nation while President Ruto is trying to unite it.

He stated,

“There is no superior region and there is no superior religion here in Kenya, and President William Ruto is becoming a victim of these political shenanigans because he wants to unite the country, because he has brought more empowerment than what other presidents have done.”

Ruto’s Connection With North Eastern

The CS also reminded Kenyans of President Ruto’s direct support for the region. He said Ruto has consistently shown commitment despite negative stereotypes from critics.

He told the opposition,

“President Ruto has slept in Mandera, yet some people still undermine us because they claim there are criminals here. I want to tell the opposition that the days of entitlement are over.”

Kuria Hits Back at Duale

However, Duale’s remarks sparked backlash. Former President Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, cautioned Duale and other leaders against negative profiling of the Mount Kenya region.

Kuria warned such talk could return Kenya to the dark days of divisive ethnic politics.

He insisted,

“Some of us have unapologetically said no to returning this country to the politics of negative ethnicity. Equally, we will vehemently resist wholesale condemnation and collective punishment of an entire community.”

Kuria further cautioned that unfair attacks on the region could ignite dangerous political consequences.

He emphasized,

“If you have a problem with any individual from the Mt Kenya Community, do not take it out against an entire people. If Mt Kenya people have eaten your goat, let me know, and I will pay you back. Do not drive our backs against the wall. A point of no return may lead to very unintended consequences.”

Rising Political Tensions

Duale’s demand for justice and Kuria’s sharp response underline deep political divisions. While North Eastern leaders push for equity, Mount Kenya leaders feel unfairly targeted. The fiery exchange signals a stormy road ahead in national politics.
