5 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Nakuru-Eldoret Highway
According to a police report, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through local communities and commuters on the busy highway.
Fatal Mistake Leads to Catastrophe
Witnesses said the driver of a personal vehicle attempted to overtake another car on the single-lane highway. In a tragic misjudgment, the car collided head-on with an oncoming truck, before a speeding trailer slammed into the wreckage.

The result? A fiery scene of twisted metal and charred remains.
Speaking at the scene, Nakuru County Traffic Officer Allan Ogolla confirmed the devastating outcome.
“All five occupants of the private car, including a young child, died on the spot,” Ogolla stated somberly.
Scene of Despair and Helplessness
A huge crowd gathered, drawn by screams, smoke, and flashing lights. First responders battled to recover bodies trapped beneath the metal debris.
The wreckage caused a massive traffic jam, forcing stranded motorists to reroute or wait helplessly for hours.
A Deadly Highway That Refuses to Forgive
This wasn’t an isolated tragedy. The Nakuru-Eldoret highway has turned into a graveyard in recent months.
Locals say they’ve had enough.
“We’re tired of burying our loved ones. Every week, it’s blood and tears here,” lamented a Gilgil resident, Jane Mumbi.
Empty Promises, Rising Death Toll
Despite government promises to expand the highway starting August, no construction has begun. Residents now question the truth behind those promises.
“The road is narrow, worn out, and dangerous. How many more must die before action is taken?” another resident asked angrily.
