Migori Man Who Hung on Chopper Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
Stephen Odhiambo, now dubbed ‘Migori James Bond’, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after his daredevil stunt made headlines across the country. His crime? Hanging dangerously on a helicopter during a glamorous wedding in Rapogi village, Migori.
The chopper was ferrying YouTuber Oga Obinna and guests after musician Prince Indah’s wedding. However, Odhiambo’s moment of fame quickly turned into a legal nightmare.
The Court Speaks
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Mathias Okuche, Odhiambo pleaded guilty. His charges included endangering the safety and security of those on board the helicopter.
“Your actions not only endangered lives but disrupted public order,” Magistrate Okuche stated firmly during the sentencing.
The court gave Odhiambo two choices: serve 18 months in prison or pay a Ksh 500,000 fine. He had earlier spent seven days in custody to allow for investigations.
Arrest Under the Cover of Darkness

“He tried to escape. We had to handcuff him immediately,” Lyomu said. The suspect was then taken to the police station and later arraigned in court.
Pilot Recounts Chilling Details
The helicopter pilot gave a chilling testimony. He described the stunt as a serious safety threat to both himself and the five passengers on board.
“Security had warned everyone to stay at least ten metres away,” the pilot explained. “But Odhiambo insisted on boarding. When denied, he grabbed onto the skids as we lifted off.”
A Risky Move for Fame
The incident occurred on April 13, moments after the wedding concluded. The atmosphere was festive until Odhiambo shocked onlookers by latching onto the departing chopper.
Later that day, he was seen bragging to villagers, claiming he would have held on “all the way to Nairobi” if given the chance.

A Lesson in Actions and Consequences
Odhiambo showed remorse in court. He pleaded for leniency, saying he didn’t foresee the risks. However, the court maintained that his behavior needed to be punished to deter similar acts.
