Guardian Angel Bus Bursts Into Flames on Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
Passengers and Motorists in Panic
Eyewitnesses described the shocking moment the vehicle caught fire, filling the sky with thick black smoke. Long queues quickly formed on the Nairobi-bound lane as stranded motorists watched helplessly.
“The bus was already engulfed in flames before anyone could react. People just stood in shock,” one bystander told reporters.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown
Police confirmed that no injuries or casualties had been reported. However, they could not immediately verify whether the bus had passengers on board at the time.
“Investigations will begin once the scene is secured. We urge motorists to remain calm and cooperate as we restore traffic flow,” an officer at the scene stated.
The cause of the blaze remains unclear. Experts, however, note that such fires in long-distance buses often stem from mechanical issues. Overheated brakes, broken fuel lines, or oil leaks are common culprits.
Guardian Angel’s Troubled Safety Record
This was not the first time Guardian Angel buses have gone up in flames. In April, another bus belonging to the company caught fire near the Gitaru Interchange.
“The fire started from the rear wheels. Passengers escaped narrowly as the bus burnt from the back,” a witness recounted during that incident.

Kenyans Demand Action
Commuters are now demanding stricter inspections of public service vehicles. Many fear that repeated cases of bus fires could end tragically if safety lapses persist.
“We cannot continue risking lives like this. Authorities must act before we mourn lives lost in these buses,” a concerned passenger lamented.
Road safety experts have also urged bus operators to maintain vehicles regularly, especially during peak travel seasons.
Traffic Restored but Questions Remain

As investigations continue, Kenyans are calling for accountability. For many, this was not just a fire but a loud warning that road safety must come first.
