Govt Spokesperson Condemns Shoe Attack on President Ruto, Calls for Arrests

The government has broken its silence on the shocking shoe attack against President William Ruto in Migori County. The incident, which happened on Sunday, May 4, left Kenyans stunned and questioning security measures around the Head of State.

Isaac Mwaura Demands Justice

Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura issued a strong statement on Monday, May 5. He fiercely condemned the attack and called for the immediate arrest of those responsible.

“Fellow Kenyans, the government strongly condemns the incident that occurred in Kehancha, Migori County,” Mwaura declared.

“We must respect the institution of the Presidency.”

Outrage Over Shameful Act

Mwaura expressed deep concern about the message such actions send to the nation’s youth. His words carried a stern warning:

“Those behind this shameful act must be apprehended. What values are we teaching our children? Let us be patriotic and maintain peace.”

Shoe Thrown Mid-Speech

The drama unfolded in Kehancha as President Ruto addressed an excited crowd. Videos quickly went viral, showing the precise moment a shoe was hurled toward him. The president paused briefly, shielding himself, but thankfully escaped unhurt.

The attack exposed glaring gaps in security, sparking fierce debate online and among politicians.

Security Tightened, Ruto Silent

Despite the chilling incident, Ruto returned to the campaign trail the following day. Holding another rally on Monday morning, he chose not to comment on the attack. However, observers noted visibly heightened security around him.

Hunt for Mastermind Ongoing

Police quickly moved in after the attack, arresting three suspects. Yet, insiders revealed that the main culprit behind the brazen act is still on the run.

Migori police are now working closely with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to track down the key suspect. Investigations suggest the attack was not random—it was reportedly planned days before Ruto’s arrival.

Public Kept in the Dark

So far, authorities have not disclosed the identities of the three arrested. No official details have been released about their specific roles in the attack. Meanwhile, Kenyans remain anxious for answers.
