Eugene Wamalwa Backs Bishop Muheria, Slams Ruto’s ‘PR’ Government
Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has called out President William Ruto’s administration, urging it to focus on real service delivery. Speaking at a funeral service in Bungoma County, Wamalwa accused the government of operating like an advertising agency rather than addressing Kenyans’ needs.
“It is true that William Ruto’s government is very good in PR. I want to say that you should stop this PR,” Wamalwa declared.
He emphasized that Kenya Kwanza leaders spend more time promoting projects than implementing them effectively.
Transformer Launch Without Cables?
Wamalwa cited a controversial example from Ruto’s recent visit to Western Kenya. According to him, the president launched an electric transformer in Webuye East, yet no cables or posts were installed.
“He has been in our region for six days. He was here and launched a transformer in Webuye East. We have never seen the post and cables either,” Wamalwa stated.
He further claimed the cost of the transformer was lower than the amount spent on the president’s travel to the region.
Backing Bishop Muheria
Wamalwa also supported Archbishop Muheria, who recently criticized the government. He condemned Ruto’s allies for attacking the bishop instead of addressing his concerns.

Bishop Muheria had accused the government of failing to deliver on key promises while misleading Kenyans with flashy launches. His remarks sparked backlash from Ruto’s supporters, but Wamalwa stood by him.
Urgency in IEBC Reforms
Switching focus, Wamalwa urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel to speed up the formation of a new electoral body. He stressed that delays could impact upcoming by-elections.
“During this period in which Chebukati has left us, we have a historic moment to form a better IEBC, to also bring better leadership in the IEBC. I want to ask those involved to fast-track the process,” Wamalwa said.
Will Ruto Respond?
Ruto’s administration has not officially responded to Wamalwa’s remarks. However, political analysts believe the opposition will continue pressuring the government over unfulfilled promises.
