DCP Official Allegedly Abducted After Ruto-Gachagua Ol Kalou Clash
A senior official of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) is reported missing following an alleged abduction that occurred shortly after a politically charged funeral service in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, intensifying concerns over rising political tensions in the country.
Stanley Kimure, the party’s Political Affairs Director, is said to have been forcibly taken by unidentified individuals on Wednesday, April 8, in the Rironi area along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway. The incident was first reported by lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, a known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement shared shortly after the incident, Njiru claimed that “DCP Political Affairs Director Stanley Kimure (Stano) has been abducted by unknown individuals around Rironi.” He further alleged that Kimure had been in the company of Embakasi Kimure (Stano)Mwenje at the time of the incident.

Njiru added that the alleged abductors were using a Subaru Forester and that efforts were immediately initiated to pursue the vehicle. “He was with Hon. Mark Mwenje at the time. Mheshimiwa is currently pursuing the car along Limuru Road,” Njiru stated, although no further updates on the pursuit had been confirmed by the time of publication.
As of press time, neither the Democracy for Citizens Party nor the National Police Service (NPS) had issued an official statement regarding the incident, leaving the circumstances surrounding Kimure’s disappearance unclear.
The reported abduction comes against the backdrop of heightened political tensions witnessed earlier the same day during the burial of former Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Kiaharo. The event marked the first public appearance on the same platform for President William Ruto and his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua since the latter’s impeachment in October 2024.
The funeral quickly turned into a politically charged gathering, with leaders allied to both sides engaging in sharp exchanges. Nyandarua Senator John Methu, a vocal supporter of Gachagua, was forced to cut short his speech after making remarks perceived as confrontational towards the Head of State. During his address, Methu declared that he respected but did not fear President Ruto, a statement that drew interruptions from other leaders present.
President Ruto, in his speech, firmly rejected suggestions that his access to any region of the country could be subject to approval from political figures. In a direct response, he stated, “I cannot be asked for permission from anybody, nor am I going to ask for permission from anybody. I will speak and deliver to all the people of Kenya as the President of Kenya.”

Security analysts note that the convergence of political rivalry and large public gatherings can sometimes heighten tensions, although it remains unclear whether the alleged abduction is directly linked to the events at the funeral.
In a separate but possibly related development, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, a known critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, was reportedly attacked at a hotel in Kisumu on the same day. While details of that incident remain limited, the occurrence of both events within hours has raised concerns among observers about the state of political tolerance and security.

Authorities are yet to confirm the alleged abduction or provide updates on any investigations. Meanwhile, calls are growing for a swift and transparent inquiry into the incident, as stakeholders urge calm amid an increasingly tense political climate.
