Central Region Schools Shine Again in KCSE 2024 Results
Academic powerhouses in Central Kenya have once again demonstrated stellar performances in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results. Key schools in Murang’a, Nyeri, and Kirinyaga counties have maintained their dominance, posting impressive grades across the board.
Murang’a High School: A New Benchmark
Murang’a High School emerged as a regional leader, recording 50 A plains, 104 A minuses, and 111 B pluses. This marks a major improvement from the previous year, where the school managed only 15 A plains and about 60 A minuses.
Deputy Principal Stephen Kareithi expressed his pride in the school’s achievements, saying:
“We are very proud of our school’s performance, and from our analysis, we could be having the highest number of As in the region.”
Out of 436 candidates, the school is still verifying results for 27 students, leaving room for even more accolades.
Kagumo Boys High School: Consistent Excellence
Kagumo Boys High School in Nyeri County followed closely with 41 A plains, 104 A minuses, and 116 B pluses. The school’s strong performance solidifies its position as one of the top academic institutions in the region.

Baricho Boys High School: Gradual Improvements
In Kirinyaga County, Baricho Boys High School continued its steady climb, posting 30 A plains and over 100 A minuses. Principal Bernard Mwangi expressed optimism about the results, noting a slight improvement from last year’s mean score of 9.274.
“Last year, we had 25 A plains and 87 A minuses. We are happy that our candidates have outdone themselves this year, and we hope to do even better next year,” Mwangi stated.
With 475 candidates, many are expected to secure university placements.
Njiiris High School: Overcoming Challenges
In Murang’a, Njiiris High School showed notable progress despite facing challenges with the national server. So far, the school has recorded 6 A plains, 15 A minuses, and surpassed last year’s results.
Dean of Academics Moses Njoroge lamented the delays in accessing results, saying:
“We are disappointed that the results are trickling in so slowly because the server keeps failing. The government should make sure the server is working well so all candidates can get their results in time.”
Despite this, Njoroge remained optimistic:
“We scored a mean score of 8.01 last year, and we are sure to surpass that this year.”
A Future Full of Promise
With these stellar performances, Central Kenya schools have set new academic benchmarks. Students, teachers, and parents remain hopeful for even greater achievements in the years to come.
