Police Recover Loaded G3 Rifle Hidden by Employee After Employer Raises Alarm
The incident unfolded on Friday, July 25, 2025, after a vigilant employer reported suspicious behavior by one of their staff members. This timely tip-off triggered a swift police response.
“Yesterday, police officers at Maili Saba Police Station received a report from an employer who suspected that one of their employees was in possession of an illegal firearm,” the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed in a statement issued Saturday.
Without hesitation, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Maili Saba led a detailed search at the premises. And just as tension mounted, their efforts paid off.
“Officers recovered a loaded G3 rifle hidden in an unused hen house, wedged between two flat doors,” the NPS revealed, highlighting the firearm’s secretive concealment.
Shockingly, the suspect managed to flee moments before police could make an arrest. But authorities are not backing down.
“A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” the statement urged.
The NPS reiterated the importance of public cooperation in combating illegal arms possession.

“We remain committed to ensuring that illegal firearms do not fall into the wrong hands. Every tip from the public counts,” the NPS emphasized.
This incident isn’t isolated. Trans Nzoia has seen similar recoveries in recent years. In May 2023, police recovered another G3 rifle abandoned by an armed robber. Later, in December 2024, the DCI seized a G3 rifle during an arrest of robbery suspects in Samburu East.
These consistent recoveries point to a broader issue of illegal arms proliferation.
“The presence of such weapons poses a grave threat to public safety and must be eradicated through coordinated action,” police said.
Meanwhile, the Maili Saba police continue to appeal to the public:
“Help us keep our communities safe. Report suspicious behavior without delay.”

With growing collaboration between law enforcement and the public, authorities hope to eliminate illegal weapons before they claim innocent lives.
