Philip Aroko: Politician Linked to Were’s Murder Says He’ll Pray at Slain MP’s Grave Once Released

Nairobi – Embattled Homa Bay politician Philip Aroko, who is linked to the killing of Philip Aroko, has made a surprising vow.

Despite the cloud of suspicion hanging over him, Aroko says he still intends to pray at the late MP’s grave once he is released.

“In Africa, funerals don’t end in one day,” Aroko’s lawyer Danstan Omari told High Court Judge Alexander Muteti.
“The applicant is a public figure. He still intends to pay his respects at the graveside of the late MP.”

Arrest Changed His Plans, but Not His Intentions

Omari revealed that Aroko had initially planned to attend Were’s funeral. However, his arrest and detention disrupted those intentions.

Now, Aroko hopes to visit the grave and mourn the fallen MP after investigations conclude.

“Your honour, my client had intended to attend the burial,” Omari explained.
“Since the MP is already buried, he wants to go and interact with his people in Kasipul.”

Still Eyeing Political Future in Kasipul

Even with murder allegations hanging over him, Aroko is still eyeing the Kasipul parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.

Omari insisted that Aroko’s mission is to connect with residents and share his vision for leadership.

“He intends to interact with the people of Kasipul,” Omari said.
“He wants to become an MP and make laws that strengthen the DCI.
”

This bold political ambition has raised eyebrows, given the nature of the charges.

A Sudden Withdrawal and a Detention Order

In a twist, Aroko has withdrawn a petition he had filed against the police.

Earlier, he claimed that his rights were violated during his arrest. He even demanded to be presented in court “dead or alive.”

But during the hearing at Milimani Law Courts, Aroko dropped the case, shifting focus to his ongoing legal battles.

Shortly after, he was arraigned at JKIA Law Courts, where a magistrate ordered that he be detained for seven days.

Murder Probe Intensifies as Main Suspect Is Nabbed

Investigators claim that Aroko may be connected to financial transactions suspected to have funded the murder.

Meanwhile, the main suspect, Isaac Kuria alias “Kush”, was arrested on May 11 in Isebania while attempting to cross into Tanzania.
