Nairobi – Businesswoman and philanthropist Agnes Kagure has called on elected leaders to prioritize the welfare of Kenyans.
In a heartfelt tweet on Monday, March 17, Kagure shared her journey from village struggles to becoming a successful entrepreneur in Nairobi. She emphasized that every Kenyan must play a role in building a better nation.
She urged leaders to uphold integrity and serve the interests of the common mwananchi, stating that a strong foundation today ensures a prosperous future.
“We all have a duty to make Kenya better. Leaders, in particular, must lead with integrity and put Kenyans first. This is the only way to secure a better future for the next generation,” Kagure wrote.
Kagure’s Political Aspirations
Kagure, who is eyeing Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat in 2027, expressed concern over the current state of governance. She noted that many leaders fail to fulfill their promises, leaving citizens in frustration.
She encouraged elected officials to focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job opportunities. According to Kagure, development should be people-centered, and leaders must work to bridge the gap between the wealthy and the struggling masses.

Lessons from Her Journey
Reflecting on her personal story, Kagure highlighted the importance of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. She urged young people to remain determined, despite challenges, and to contribute positively to the country’s progress.
“I understand the struggles many Kenyans face because I have lived them. Success is built on resilience, and every person has the potential to rise above their circumstances,” she added.
Kenyans React to Kagure’s Message
Many Kenyans applauded her words, agreeing that leaders should be held accountable. Some expressed hope that her leadership would bring change if elected as Nairobi’s governor.
Others called for immediate action, urging leaders to address pressing issues like corruption, joblessness, and economic hardship.
A Nation’s Responsibility
Kagure’s message resonated widely, serving as a reminder that leadership is about service. As Kenya gears up for the next election, her words challenge both leaders and citizens to work together for a better tomorrow.
