“Most of the loans were inflated up to ten times the original amount,” a source familiar with the case disclosed.

In 2019, Mbobu borrowed Ksh10 million from a shylock. Although he made payments totaling Ksh24 million over two years, the debt ballooned to Ksh72 million. Eventually, he stopped paying.
“He was overwhelmed. The debts kept piling. He couldn’t keep up,” a close associate said.
On the night of September 9, unknown assailants shot Mbobu eight times along Magadi Road. He was heading home after meetings in the CBD. The attack occurred during a traffic jam.
Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed the cause of death.
“Mbobu died from excessive bleeding. The shooting was intentional and done at close range,” Oduor stated.
His death has left the legal community shaken. Many are now questioning whether his financial woes played a role in his murder.
“This was not random. It looks calculated,” said one senior lawyer.
