Bomet Nightmare: Father Turns Killer, Slaughters Two Daughters in Cold Blood
The incident, which has left residents of Taachasis village in shock, occurred in the dead of night. The man reportedly used a kitchen knife to slit the throats of his innocent girls, aged two and seven.
Community in Shock: “Why Kill Your Own Children?”
Confirming the chilling act, Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga stated that officers received a distress call from the area chief.
“He took the knife and cut their throats one after the other. We don’t know the motive of the murder, but we shall interrogate him before presenting him to the court,” said Imbwaga.
Immediately after the alert, police rushed to the scene. They arrested the suspect and took him to Konoin Police Station for further questioning.
“We also took the kitchen knife used in the murder as an exhibit in the case, and it is now in the safe custody of the police,” Imbwaga added.
Tears, Anger, and Horror in Taachasis
Villagers woke up to screams, then to silence. As word spread, a crowd gathered, wailing and cursing the man. Many demanded justice. Others, unable to hold back emotions, broke down in tears.
“How can someone slaughter his own babies like goats?” cried one elderly woman at the scene.
Security officers had to intervene as some villagers threatened to lynch the suspect.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have now launched a full investigation to understand what pushed the father to commit such a heinous crime. Meanwhile, the bodies of the two girls were taken to Kapkatet Sub-county Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem.
The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday.
A County Haunted by Tragedy
This is not the first time Bomet has witnessed such darkness. In February 2025, Benard Kipkemoi, a 40-year-old man from Lelaitich village, was sentenced to 150 years in prison. He had murdered his three sons in 2019.
Now, once again, the county is mourning the loss of children at the hands of those meant to protect them.
As investigations continue, one question lingers in every villager’s heart — Why would a father do this?
