“Ruto Is My Father”—19-Year-Old Man Released After Trespassing in Parliament, Court Orders Family to Seek Help

A 19-year-old man who shocked the court by claiming to be President William Ruto’s son has been released under strict conditions. Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Murithi, was arrested on August 7 at 9:30pm inside the Bunge Towers car park, located within Parliament Buildings.

“You Were Found Without Authority”—Court Reads Charges

Kidero appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Thursday, October 9. He pleaded not guilty to trespassing charges.

“On 7 August 2025, at around 9:30pm in Nairobi, within Nairobi County, you were found in the Bunge Towers car park without lawful authority,” the charge sheet read.

Despite the seriousness of the offence, the magistrate chose compassion over punishment.

“Do not repeat the same offence of going back to Parliament; I do not want to regret freeing you,” Ekhubi warned.

“I’m Releasing You to Your Uncle”—Court Sets Conditions

The magistrate released Kidero to his uncle, Kelvin Chege, but issued a stern warning.

“I’m releasing you to your uncle today, but on the condition that you do not commit any other offence,” Ekhubi said. “Mr Chege, do not let him out of your sight,” he added.

The court emphasized that the young man needed close supervision and medical attention.

“William Ruto Is My Father”—Kidero’s Shocking Claim

During a previous court appearance on September 25, Kidero stunned the courtroom with a bold declaration.

“William Samoei Ruto is my father; I helped him to become the president,” Kidero stated. “My mother is Angeline Muriithi. There is a mistake going on in Parliament,” he added.

His statement raised eyebrows and prompted the court to urge his family to seek medical care.

“Tell His Father to Show Concern”—Magistrate Urges Family Support

Magistrate Ekhubi expressed concern over the young man’s mental state and the lack of family involvement.

“Since this young man was brought before the court, efforts have been made to contact his family,” Ekhubi said. “Please tell his father to show more concern for his son,” he added.

The emotional courtroom moment highlighted the need for mental health awareness and family support.

As Kidero walks free, his story continues to stir public emotion and raise questions about youth welfare and institutional care.
