Iran Embassy in Nairobi Strongly Denies Terror Allegations

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi has dismissed media reports linking it to alleged terror plots in Kenya. The statement, issued on Wednesday, June 25, called the claims false, politically charged, and dangerous to international relations.

The reports had cited an alleged warning from Kenya’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), suggesting that Iran-backed operatives might orchestrate attacks during the June 25 protest anniversary.

“In light of a statement attributed to the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of Kenya circulated by a few local news platforms, the Spokesperson of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi wishes to state that such delusional and fabricated scenarios are the product of hostile elements,”
the Embassy said in its statement.

The Embassy went further to clarify that Iran does not operate terror networks in Kenya or support any related activity.

“As one of the primary victims of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently fought against terrorist organisations such as Daesh (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda,”
it added.

Moreover, the Embassy emphasized that Iran values its diplomatic relationship with Kenya and urged local authorities to avoid sharing unverifiable intelligence.

“We caution against the release of unverified and politically motivated reports that might stir panic or harm diplomatic ties,”
the statement warned.

This response comes amid heightened regional tensions. Iran has been involved in an escalating conflict with Israel since June 13. The two-week war has resulted in hundreds of casualties and widespread displacement. A ceasefire was reached on June 24 through mediation by Qatar and other global partners.

Despite the truce, both Iran and Israel have traded accusations.

“Zionist aggression cannot be tolerated,”
Iran said.

On the other hand, Israel defended its actions as acts of national defense.

“We are responding to direct threats posed by Iran and its proxies,”
an Israeli spokesperson said earlier.

Meanwhile, in Kenya, the June 25 protests unfolded across the country. Nairobi was particularly tense, with several clashes reported between protesters and police. Property destruction and injuries marred what was intended as a peaceful demonstration.

As the political climate stiffens both locally and globally, diplomatic caution remains crucial. Iran’s Embassy has called for accuracy, peace, and responsibility in all public communications regarding security matters.
